Cobb Rallies Around Walton Teacher with Cancer

March 11, 2026 — At Walton High School, a beloved social studies teacher is persevering in the midst of adversity and continuing to be there for his students.

Josh Williams, who has been teaching at Walton for four years, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.

"Honestly, it was a gut punch. You never want to see someone go through what Josh is going through, especially someone who's young and has a young family," said principal Stephanie Santoro.

Williams is continuing to teach while undergoing treatment, which has been an inspiration to fellow staff and students in his class.

"He means a lot to the students here because he's given his all to us, and we just wanted to do the same for him," said Walton senior Aleeza.

A GoFundMe was started to help raise money for Williams and his family during the uncertain months ahead and has already raised well over $60,000.

"When you're someone like Josh who cares so much for others, they're going to care for you as well. It's a reciprocal relationship. It's a testament to his character, a testament to how he does his job, and how well he treats other people," said fellow social studies teacher Anthony Foti.

Aleeza and other students said they have been donating money and sharing the GoFundMe link on social media as much as they can in hopes of helping a teacher who has gone the extra mile for students every day in the classroom.

"We love you so much, Mr. Williams, and we know you'll be so strong. We know you'll push through it, and we believe in you, and we support you," said Walton senior Jacquline.
