Danica Lee has been chosen as the Artist of the Week this week for Allatoona. Danica is a part of Allatoona’s mountain biking team, fiddlers, and a student-run quartet. She is a talented violinist and has been playing for five years. Danica also displays her gifts for fine arts in drawing and painting, but her nomination is mainly focused on her participation with Allatoona’s wonderful orchestra. Danica says she started playing the violin in “6th grade. I had switched from playing flute, which I had been playing for two years before that. I love it because it’s a great way to relax, and you’re focused on something else, so it helps get me out of my head.” Mr. Palmer, Allatoona’s amazing orchestra director, recognized this love of music and chose Danica as Artist of the Week. He says that the choice is because “Danica is so passionate about music and visual arts that she represents the epitome of what we would think of as the Artist of the Week.” Danica plans to continue playing her instrument and even join a county orchestra for fun in the future. Danica has learned to play the violin confidently and urges other students to do the same with their instruments. She says, “Some advice I can give to younger musicians would be not to be afraid to make mistakes - it’s going to happen, but if you play out and proudly make your mistake, you will hear how to fix it. Be confident!” Danica Lee is a great choice for Artist of the Week.
