Danica Lee is Allatoona’s artist of the week. She is currently in her senior year of high school and was nominated by Mrs. Laura McInerny. She started taking art seriously in fifth grade. Her favorite medium to create with is any type of paint (acrylic, watercolor, etc.). Her least favorite medium is oil pastels. Mrs. McInerny says that “Danica has grown her painting skills over the past four years to become an Advanced Placement student. She will have her portfolio reviewed by national judges at the end of the school year. Danica has also proven to be a vital member of the art club, serving as club president this year.” She has competed in numerous art competitions, ranging from The Reflections art competition to T-shirt design competitions. Her most recent work is a ceramic bowl. When asked why she believes she was chosen for Artist of the Week she stated, “I enjoy the process of making art. I like the creating; obviously, the product is important, but I just like to make stuff.” Her advice to future artists is to love the process when creating art. In the future she hopes to major in art (painting) and run her own business. We congratulate Danica on receiving artist of the week and cannot wait to see any future pieces she makes!
