Best In State Employer

As in past years, 99% of Cobb teachers returned this year, and Cobb Schools started with fewer than 20 open positions, while other metro Atlanta districts faced triple-digit vacancies.

It’s clear Cobb educators love their jobs, students, and the community that supports them. That’s why Forbes has named the Cobb County School District one of Georgia’s Best Employers for the sixth straight year.

In fact, Cobb has ranked among America’s Best Employers in Georgia every year Forbes has released the list.

“Whether it is leading the metro academically or today's announcement from Forbes that Cobb is the best K-12 employer in the state, we really are fortunate to live in a county that is the best place to teach, lead and learn,” said Board Chair Randy Scamihorn.

This year, Cobb Schools ranks among the 30 best employers in Georgia, above employers like Bank of America, Coca-Cola, Aflac, Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, and Northside Hospital.

Cobb is the top-ranked school district in Georgia and the only one that made the top 50. Only a handful of K-12 school districts made the top 100 list. Universities ranking below Cobb on the list of Georgia’s BEST Employers include the Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Georgia, Georgia Southern University, and Kennesaw State University.

According to Forbes, “retaining top talent…requires vision and effort,” and Cobb earned another spot on the Best Employers list because Cobb is “doing what it takes to retain their employees and keep them satisfied.”

Due to repeated historic and healthy raises, Cobb leads Georgia in educator pay. On top of that, Cobb educators can pursue tuition-free advanced degrees via the Georgia’s BEST (Building Educator Success Together) program. Following a successful first year, the first class of Georgia’s BEST educators graduate this year.
