Cobb Schools BOE Meeting Features Update on CTLS

Teachers, students, and parents across the Cobb Schools actively use the Cobb Teaching and Learning System (CTLS) to achieve the District’s mission of One Team, One Goal: Student Success.
During the December Board of Education meeting, Chief of Academics Jennifer Lawson provided an update on CTLS and how the innovative platform has served the Cobb Schools community over the past eight years and will continue helping students succeed in the future. From the beginning, District educators created CTLS with input from the school community. They designed the online platform with Cobb students, teachers, and families in mind and continue to make user-focused improvements based on community feedback.
“CTLS is now an integral part of learning in Cobb and the way our teachers, students, and parents engage. As the Superintendent said, it has also provided tremendous monetary savings to the District because of the way the CTLS Resource Library catalogs academic resources. Others around the country are looking to Cobb for the solution to digital learning and assessment,” said Board Chair Randy Scamihorn.
When CTLS launched as the District’s solution to remote learning in 2020, the CTLS team once again listened to the needs of the school community and continued to develop enhancements for the platform to meet those needs.
As an example of how the platform has expanded and continues to add new resources for teachers, students, and parents, the CTLS Resource Library has grown to include 1.3 million searchable items.
Thanks to the additions and improvements, CTLS Parent has streamlined communication efforts and increased family engagement. From July 2020 to July 2021, CTLS Parent supported 43 million emails, 1.2 million voice calls, 13.6 million text messages, and 14.5 million APP push notifications.
Based on continued feedback from teachers, students, and parents, the CTLS team already has plans for more improvements and enhancements to the district’s digital platform. What’s in the future for CTLS?
Enhancements to the CTLS Teach platform will further streamline communication with students and parents. Some of the additions include teacher portfolios and badging. Like their teachers, students will also have portfolios and badging features. Under CTLS Learn, students will also see enhancements to their personalized learning experience.
In the future, Cobb Parents will be able to access their student’s data portfolio, course standards, and resource library. For CTLS Assess, the team is planning enhanced security features, continued expansion of item banks, and the addition of a recommendation engine.
