This year there will be a new leader, albeit a familiar face, in the principal’s office of Walton High School. Having served as assistant principal at the school, Richard Tischler is stepping up to lead Walton, one of the top schools for the state of Georgia and the entire nation. Walton's previous principal, Dr. Catherine Mallanda, was named Cobb Schools Chief Academic Officer over the summer.

Walton’s new principal has served Cobb students for almost two decades as a teacher and school administrator. Cobb is home and where his own children attend school.

“I am looking forward to continuing the tradition developed by Walton school leaders before me to foster the excellence that Walton has in academics, arts, and athletics,” Principal Tischler said.

In his new position, Principal Tischler will continue strengthening the relationships with members of the school community. The Question-and-Answer section provides more insight into his leadership style and goal for Walton.
