The Inside Scoop: 8th Graders Motivated to REACH for Success
The REACH Georgia program allots eight scholarship opportunities for Cobb students per year. The District must raise $4000 for each student, and REACH Georgia will add $6000 for a total scholarship worth $10,000.
For this great opportunity to become a reality, the Cobb Schools Foundation helps find willing donors. On today's podcast, David Owen and Foundation Director Felicia Wagner discuss the REACH program and how it works.
REACH Georgia is for rising eighth graders and aims to motivate and guide them toward the right path in school. The program offers substantial scholarships to promising students who maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher.
Five Cobb graduates have already been awarded these scholarships (see links below), and the program emphasizes mentorship to help students succeed academically and behaviorally. Private donors and corporate supporters fund the scholarships with the goal of sending students to post-secondary institutions. The Foundation actively seeks donors and encourages those interested in supporting student success to contribute. The impact of this program extends beyond individual families, positively affecting the entire community by providing educational opportunities for promising students.
