Cobb Schools Volunteers of the Year 2024

Volunteers are an essential part of the Cobb Schools team. To recognize the District’s outstanding volunteers who are dedicated to helping Cobb students reach success, the Cobb Schools Foundation recently hosted the annual Volunteer of the Year luncheon.

“Teaching children takes more than just the teacher in the classroom. We can’t do it without our volunteers,” declared Cobb Schools Board Chair Randy Scamihorn. “Nothing is more satisfying than giving your time to students and staff who need you. Thank you to the many adults across Cobb who volunteer!!”

The Volunteer of the Year event honors volunteers from every school in the District. This year’s volunteers have spent countless hours supporting students and their teachers. They teach STEM lessons, coordinate school-wide events, assist with carpooling, recruit other volunteers, energize school parents, and are heavily invested in enriching the lives of students.

Some of the volunteers have been serving inside the schools for more than a decade. Even when their students graduate to the next level of their educational journey, Cobb volunteers continue serving inside their students’ former schools. They “epitomize the true spirit of dedication, selflessness, and community engagement” and are often described as “dedicated, energetic, and passionate.”

“We appreciate what you do in our schools every day,” Felicia Wagner, Cobb Schools Foundation Executive Director, told the room packed with volunteers. “You choose to come into our schools and invest in our students, and you could be doing a million other things. I believe that you’re doing the most important work that can be done on the planet, and that’s focus on student success.”
