More than 25 years ago, Elizabeth Marsili began her teaching career and lived right around the corner from Teasley Elementary School. Now, almost three decades later, she is returning as principal of Teasley.

“To return full circle and begin a principalship here in this community is an absolute honor. Teasley has a strong foundation in the community. I am truly looking forward to joining the talented and dedicated staff, the supportive families, and the network of community partners as we work together to create the best school for every student who walks through the doors each day,” Principal Marsili said.

In this New Principal Q&A, learn how Teasley’s new principal plans to help create a school environment where every teacher believes that all children can grow and learn, differences are embraced, and students are willing to take risks in learning so they can thrive. 

Question: What can the school community expect to see under your leadership? 

Answer: “The school community can expect to see a leader who is visible, relational, and truly loves the students, staff, and community. They can expect to see a school leader who believes our staff, our students, and our families deserve the best. As a result, I hold high expectations and standards for myself, teachers, staff, and our students in regard to instruction/academics, attendance, behavior, work ethic, how we treat others, and how we take care of our school.” 

Question: What does student success look like to you? 

Answer: “Student success can be those “aha” moments where it finally clicks after mastering a challenging task; moments where students attain an academic learning goal after weeks of practice; moments where students embrace mistakes as a valuable part of learning; moments where students learn how to collaborate with others and respect differences of opinions; or even those moments when students learn self-regulation skills as they face big emotions. As educators, we can positively impact student success daily. Every student at Teasley deserves to feel valued, be engaged in learning, and develop their potential during their time in our school.”

Question: What do you like most about being an educator and principal? 

Answer: “I love that every day is different. I love that you are a part of a team. You are working alongside teachers, staff, families, and the community with the common goal of supporting the children as they walk their educational path. As an elementary school educator, you invest in our youngest learners in ways that can build their confidence and have a lifelong positive impact. I must admit, I also love the joy and smiles you get to see on the faces of our elementary students every day!”

Question: Outside school, where might students, parents, or staff members run into you? 

Answer: “Outside of school, you will definitely find me with my family. With the childhood years quickly flying by, my husband and I try to make the most of every moment with our two kids. We will either be boating on the lake, cheering on our son at a ballpark, or walking around Target or Home Depot. We are a Jeep family and love taking day trips in the Fall to drive in the mountains. If we aren’t outside, we are probably working on a do-it-yourself home improvement project of some kind.”
