Dr. Lexie Bultman's journey through Cobb Schools as a student, teacher, and parent has equipped her with a deep understanding of the diverse perspectives within the community. As she marks her 20 years in education, Dr. Bultman is returning to the best place to teach, lead, and learn as the new principal of Allatoona High School.  

“I am a Cobb County native, resident, and graduate. I live in the Allatoona district - my daughter attended Allatoona - and my son will be a freshman there this next year, so I know the reputation it carries for strong academic, fine arts, and athletic programs, as well as dedicated teachers and a vibrant student community. To have the opportunity to lead a school in the community I live in is rare, and I feel very honored,” Dr. Bultman explained.

Question: In what roles have you served in Cobb Schools?

Answer: “I served as a science teacher for 11 years (10 years at Kennesaw Mountain High School and  taught varying levels of biology as well as AP Environmental Science) before moving into building leadership, where I worked as an assistant principal for seven years (4 at Kennesaw Mountain and three years at North Cobb High School).”

Question: What can the school community expect to see under your leadership?  

Answer: “I am a firm believer in shared leadership where authentic engagement with one another fosters collective responsibility in decision making and accountability. Under my leadership, the school community can anticipate continued dedication to academic excellence, open and transparent communication, and a steadfast focus on learning, collaboration, and achieving tangible results.”

Question:  What does student success look like to you?  

Answer: “Student success goes beyond good grades and strong test scores. While those are important, measuring student success is far more complex and holistic than that - and success can look different for different people. For me, the true measure of student success is when students are engaged in the learning process, demonstrate growth and resilience, and create positive relationships, all while demonstrating a strong sense of personal accountability and integrity.”

Question: What do you like most about being an educator?

Answer: “What I love most about being an educator is encouraging and supporting people in continual innovation and improvement. My personal mission statement is to help people move forward, and I try to do that in all areas - both personally and professionally. Seeing and knowing I have been able to support someone in their personal growth is very rewarding.”

Question: Outside school, where might students, parents, or staff members run into you? 

Answer: “I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, going to concerts, and traveling. Outside of school, I can be found at various sporting events, running at Swift Cantrell Park, or trying new restaurants. I also love to read.”
