The start of the 2024-25 school year is almost here.

While school and district leaders have been preparing all summer, hundreds of the District's newest teachers got a jump start on their professional development at the New Teacher Academy this week.

Each year, the New Teacher Academy welcomes employees to the Cobb Schools team and prepares them for a successful start to the new school year. They participate in many different training sessions on the foundational elements of teaching and learning in Cobb, as well as individualized sessions focused on grade levels and content areas.

They began their day with an informative keynote address from Superintendent Chris Ragsdale and members of the Executive Cabinet. Last year's District Teacher of the Year, Dr. Elizabeth Goff, also encouraged the new teachers with her inspiring story.

All new educators—with 0-2 years of experience—enjoy immersive sessions specific to their teaching assignments. The new teachers will continue their training and preparation at their local schools.
