A Nontraditional Path to Graduation with Dr. Jeanne Walker
Cobb offers students and families many educational choices to best serve their individual needs and situations. Cobb Horizon High School is one such option that caters to students desiring a different way to complete their secondary education. Cobb Horizon Principal Dr. Jeanne Walker joins David Owen on this episode of The Inside Scoop to discuss the school and its unique approach.
Dr. Walker explains that Cobb Horizon attracts primarily juniors and seniors eager to finish their high school education quickly and move on to adult life. The school offers a flexible schedule, with students attending classes for just over four hours a day, four days a week. This arrangement particularly appeals to students who work or run their own businesses, allowing them to balance their education with other commitments.
The school is located near Truist Park and follows a blended learning model of both independent and teacher-guided classes. Students are required to be on campus for testing and encouraged to stay on pace with a structured guide provided by their teachers.
Cobb Horizon is not for students with behavioral issues but an accelerated option for those with a good track record in academics and conduct. Students must be at least 16 years old and have completed five credits to apply. Parents and students interested in this nontraditional approach are encouraged to visit the school's website for more information, as well as listening to or watching the entire conversation with Dr. Walker.
