Cobb County's Public Safety Appreciation Week begins this week and runs through Sunday. The Cobb Chamber is highlighting many activities and ways that community members can show their support to these brave and selfless men and women that keep Cobb safe.

Cobb County Schools has its own team of safety professionals that help keep schools and school events safe, secure, and enjoyable for all students and participants. They are visible at schools and around the campuses, at games, and at all other school activities.

"Our police force are experienced, seasoned officers with an average of 26 years of law enforcement," said Cobb School's Chief of Police Ron Storey. "They are dedicated to providing the safest environment for students and staff every day."

Behind the uniformed officers is another team of dedicated individuals, making sure that the visible police force has everything it needs to do its job effectively. This "Command Staff" consists of administrators and civilians that provide strong leadership and support. They are focused on providing safe District operations at all levels.

"The Cobb County Campus Police work at the highest level to keep ALL of Cobb County School District staff and students safe," said Josh Morreale, Cobb's new Assistant Superintendent of School Safety Operations. "We are lucky to have Officers with this high knowledge base and expertise to ensure our safety."

The Chairman of the Cobb School Board, David Chastain, recently recorded a message for the entire District reminding our community of Cobb's leadership and commitment to safety and security. The chairman also encouraged everyone to recognize and acknowledge the great work of the District police force. Click below to hear this short message from Chairman Chastain, and then make it a point this week to personally thank an officer or two when you see them.

"We are deeply grateful to Superintendent Ragsdale and the Board for their never-ending support," said Chief Storey.
