South Cobb

High School

Since 1952, South Cobb has built generations of Eagle pride in the families it serves. Today, students take AP courses, explore medicine in the Academy of Research and Medical Sciences magnet program, and join a school community that still shows up for each other.

Train in a real medical lab

The Academy of Research and Medical Sciences gives students four years of hands-on work in medicine and scientific research. Students learn in an on-site medical lab and clinic from teachers with industry experience, build research skills every year, and finish with an original research project and an internship with a local health professional or business they choose.

STEP UP with eagle battalion

South Cobb’s JROTC Eagle Battalion builds leadership, discipline, and confidence through teamwork. Cadets serve together on the cadet staff, compete on Battalion teams, and represent South Cobb at school and community events.

Find your stage

Band, orchestra, chorus, theatre, dance, and visual art give South Cobb students six ways to create and perform. Students can play in an ensemble, take the stage, or build a portfolio alongside classmates who share their passion. Ask the school about placement and spring openings, especially for yearlong music classes.

Support for student science research

South Cobb’s Eagle SynBio Squad project received $9,300 in Cobb Tank funding in 2025 to support student work in synthetic biology and biomedical research.

Students share their culture and creativity

For Hispanic Heritage Month in September 2026, South Cobb students created a history video and shared music, poetry, dance, and theatre at a school assembly.

A statewide teaching honor

Master Sergeant Carla Freeman, South Cobb’s JROTC instructor and department head, was named Georgia JROTC Teacher of the Year in 2025.
