Pickett's Mill

Elementary School

Pickett’s Mill helps children grow as learners and leaders, with responsibility and teamwork woven into school life. As a Leader in Me Lighthouse school, it uses the 7 Habits to help children take ownership of their learning and make thoughtful choices.

GROW aS A Leader

Children use the 7 Habits to practice responsibility, teamwork, and thoughtful choices throughout the school day.

See progress take shape

Children set learning goals, track their progress, and celebrate accomplishments with their teachers. This makes growth something students notice and discuss as they take ownership of their learning.

PUT CURIOSITY TO WORK

Classroom challenges, a STEM lab, and quarterly STEM days give children hands-on opportunities to explore science and engineering. Monthly at-home STEM challenges invite families to join the discovery, too.

Become Part of the Crew

Daily morning meetings help classmates build relationships. Student performances, The Color Run, Veterans Day ceremony, and grade-level Thanksgiving feasts  give families ways to join school life.

A Lighthouse Leadership School

Pickett’s Mill achieved Leader in Me Lighthouse status in 2013 and continues to build its culture around leadership, responsibility, andn the 7 Habits.

Support for outdoor discovery

The Treasure Trail project received $10,000 in Cobb Tank funding in 2025 for an outdoor learning environment and wildlife observation path.

Recognized for Math Growth

The school was named a Georgia Math Leader in 2025, with recognition for fourth-grade growth and fifth-grade gateway growth in mathematics.
