What is STEM in Cobb County?
The STEM and Innovation department is focused on cultivating opportunities for students to solve real-world problems and nurture skills to thrive in the future. STEM Cobb uses a personalized approach to support schools and teachers as they develop their unique STEM/STEAM identities. The work of the STEM and Innovation department is aligned to four pillars:
- Awareness: Increase awareness of elements in a comprehensive STEM/STEAM ecosystem.
- Access: Deliver superior STEM/STEAM learning experiences that model exemplary practices.
- Strengthen: Advocate for opportunities to learn with and from business, industry, and community.
- Recognition: Amplify the impact of those employing innovative STEM/STEAM strategies.
Cobb STEM/STEAM Certification recognizes schools that provide all Cobb students with STEM-enriched learning opportunities above and beyond the exemplary practices found in all Cobb schools. STEM/STEAM learning is inclusive of the humanities and allows students to creatively express ideas by challenging them to look at issues through different lenses while developing innovative solutions.
